Ron Rickerhauser, Ph.D., LPC
Dr. Rickerhauser is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He earned his BA in psychology and an MA in clinical psychology from the University of Texas-Pan American. He received his Ph.D. in psychology from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Dr. Rickerhauser completed internships in inpatient mental health at the Rio Grande State Hospital in Harlingen, TX, and in school psychology at Mission CISD in Mission, TX, and a counseling internship here in the Texas Hill Country.
From a foundation of Christian compassion, Dr. Rickerhauser is committed to care for the whole person. He works toward helping his clients heal and grow when faced with challenging and difficult situations. His training and education were concentrated in the areas of cognition, memory, and learning. This has led him to favor the cognitive-behavioral, or CBT, approach to counseling, It is based on the idea that perceptual beliefs greatly influence our behavior and emotions. Dr. Rickerhauser believes that effective change can be facilitated through a better understanding of how we perceive our situations, and CBT can help develop a better awareness of the relationships between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
